SAFE SPORT

Squash Nova Scotia is committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment for everyone involved in the sport. We believe that squash in Nova Scotia should be a space free from harassment, discrimination, and abuse—where all participants, regardless of background or identity, feel safe and welcome. As part of this commitment, SNS upholds the principles of Safe Sport and ensures alignment with national standards through policies, guidelines, and mandatory training. We are dedicated to promoting the well-being of all athletes, coaches, officials, and volunteers, and to maintaining the integrity and safety of the squash community across the province.

Safe Sport Canada outlines how athletes, coaches, officials, parents, and volunteers can help create safe, inclusive, and positive sport environments for all.

Safe sport means:

  • Collaboration – Working together to prevent harm and support one another.

  • Inclusion – Ensuring everyone feels welcome and respected.

  • Positive Participation – Engaging in ethical, developmentally appropriate practices.

  • Education – Learning how to identify, prevent, and respond to inappropriate behaviour.

  • Empowerment – Building a sport culture that prioritizes wellbeing.
