Ryan Breetzke - President

Ryan started really getting into squash when he moved to the Cayman Islands in 2000, where there is a great squash community. He was able to represent the Cayman Islands in some Caribbean competitions against Jamaica, Bermuda and Bahamas. In 2006, Ryan moved to Toronto and played in many different clubs and in city league. Now he enjoys playing Masters squash, and has managed to reach the national finaIs for his age group. Ryan moved to Halifax in 2022, and has enjoyed being part of the SMU squash community and playing in the premier league. 

Craig Potts - Vice President

Craig has been on the SNS Board since 2021, previously serving as Director of Competitive Programming. As VP since 2024, Craig supports operations of the Board, including: programming initiatives; league and tournament management; the association Newsletter, etc. Craig is also an Administrator for the Halifax Premier League.

Patrick Maule– Treasurer

Patrick is a fourth-year accounting student at Saint Mary’s University and originally from Ottawa. Growing up, hockey was his main sport as he played three years of Junior A hockey after high school before attending SMU. Patrick has been playing squash for almost two years now and has quickly discovered a passion for the game. He is excited to get more involved in the growing squash community and looks forward to meeting and connecting with fellow players.

Cameron Reid - Director of Competitive Programming

Cameron serves as the Director of Competitive Programming and Club Locker Lead for Squash Nova Scotia. He first fell in love with the sport in 2009, picking up a racquet to play recreationally with friends. Since 2015, he has actively participated in leagues and tournaments in Nova Scotia. Outside of his dedication to squash, Cameron enjoys pickleball in the summer, skiing in the winter and spending time with his Great Dane, Harvey, at Point Pleasant Park year round.

In 2015, Cameron moved to Nova Scotia from New Brunswick and found a welcoming squash community. Inspired by this experience, he joined the board in 2019 to give back. Initially serving as a Member-at-Large, he now leads as the Director of Competitive Programming.

Heather MacElwee - Director of Coaching & Officiating

Heather grew up in Ottawa, Ontario, but completed her undergraduate degree at Acadia University and made Halifax her full-time home in 2020. In 2021, she started playing squash and quickly became immersed in its incredible community. Heathers involvement grew over the years, leading her to join the Squash NS board in 2024.

As the Director of Coaching and Officiating on the Squash NS board, Heathers focus has been on developing coaches across the province and expanding our pool of club-level referees to promote fair play. SNS has been actively running refereeing clinics, providing local players with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and engage directly with our Black Shirt Refs for guidance and insights.

Rawan Abouelela - Director of Communications & Advocacy

Rawan has been playing squash for about 10 years, and it has become a huge part of her life. She is very excited to be on the board, to give back to the sport and community! Rawan hopes to support the amazing work already being done and help create new ways for the sport to grow across the province.

Cindy Wheeler - Director of Membership & Volunteers

Cindy began playing squash about 2 1/2 years ago. She has been amazed at how welcoming and inclusive the squash community has been both to her and other younger players.

Cindy is excited to join the board as Director of Membership and Volunteers. As a big proponent of IDEA initiatives (inclusivity, diversity, equality and accessibility), she is looking forward to helping find new ways to keep growing squash so it is available to all. Cindy encourages anyone to reach out with any new ideas!

Cordale Hann - Member-at-Large

As a Member at Large on the Squash Nova Scotia board, Cordale plays an active role in organizing and communicating events within the squash community through SNS social media accounts.

Originally from Newfoundland, Cordale moved to Halifax in 2019 for a new career. After getting settled into the city, he stumbled into the world of squash through chance. Cordale has been playing squash for just over two years, and it has quickly become his favourite sport. He is drawn to the physical challenge it offers, but even more so to the incredible community it fosters. He is passionate about contributing to that community and supporting fellow players in their journeys. Outside of squash, Cordale works in finance, where he actively promotes the positive impact of physical activity and sports communities on mental health. He truly believes that staying active and being part of a team can have a profound effect on overall well-being.

Dan Hasselman - Member-at-Large

As an active squash enthusiast, Dan has been playing on and off at Dalhousie since 2007, but continuously since 2018. This raises the obvious question: 'Shouldn't I be better by now?'.  Oh well - squash is a journey, not a destination.  Dan really enjoys engaging with members of our tight-knit squash community both on and off the court. He also enjoys welcoming new players to the community through their participation in the Dal Squash Club and it has been an important highlight for him.

David Westwood - Member-at-Large

David been playing squash and volunteering in the sport for 20 years. He plays primarily out of the Dalhousie Squash Club. In David's day job he is a Kinesiology Professor at Dalhousie University (and union leader) with expertise in vision, movement control, and skill -- He enjoys the combining his leisure and intellectual interests! David was the Sport Lead for Squash when SNS hosted the 2011 Canada Games in Halifax, and did live blogging for the Bluenose PSA Tournament before SquashTV was established.

David looks forward to helping continue the growth of the world's greatest sport in our region as a Member-at-Large on the Board.

Ryan Ingham - Member-at-Large

Ryan fell in love with squash after joining the squash league in 2023. He always been a fan of racquet sports, but squash is so unique and has brought out a competitiveness out of Ryan that he didn’t know he had!

As a Member at Large, Ryan has been involved in forming a subcommittee to support Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) within our squash community. He believes that squash is for everyone, and everyone deserves to have access to squash as a sport in Nova Scotia.

Sierra Cox - Member-at-Large

Sierra an 18-year-old first-year Criminology student at Saint Mary’s University and she has been playing squash for almost four years. She is am passionate about social justice, and she strives for growth on and off the court.

Sierra is SNS’s newest Member-at-large helping out on any projects that need assistance.
