Janet’s coaching philosophy is to encourage and support everyone to be active, have fun, and excel in the sport of squash. She believes that playing squash helps athletes develop valuable life skills such as time management, problem-solving strategies, goal setting, building positive relationships, maintaining a strong work ethic, and managing stress under pressure. Janet values a standard of excellence in training, attitude, and conduct both on and off the court.

Janet has been representing SNS on the courts for over 35 years and is currently an active Masters player, having competed in the 2018 World Masters Squash Championships, where she placed 11th in her age group.

Janet has served as Coach for many Squash Canada National Junior teams; Assistant Coach and Manager of the National Junior Women’s Team at three World Junior Championships 2015, 2017, 2019; Head Coach Pan-American Junior Squash Championships 2018, 2019; 4 time Battle of the Borders Head Coach- U13 and U15 Girls; Squash Canada Coach at the US Junior Open U11 Girls and Boys; Head Squash Coach at the Nova Scotia Canada Winter Games in 2015 and 2019.

Janet has been Director and Head Coach of the Valley Squash Academy in Kentville NS since 2005. Janet also runs a weekly Women’s Squash Night.

Janet is President of and coaches in the Not-for-Profit 902SquashEd Society which engages and empowers youth from the Africentric Communities in the Annapolis Valley.

Janet Mentors coaches – squash and other sports – within the Atlantic Region.

Janet is the lead on a major Squash Canada Project called CANSquash developing squash resources and programming for new squash coaches all across Canada.
