HSL Examples

This is an example of team movement between sessions. The examples are drawn from the 2018-19 Season of the Ottawa District Squash Association Open City League upon which the revised HSL is modelled.

  • At the end of Session 1 CASC1 was relegated to Div 3 and was replaced by NDHQ1 who was promoted from Div 3.  SPOR1 was promoted  to Div 1, replacing GOOD2  relegated from Div 1.
  • At the end of Session 2 GOOD3 was relegated to Div 3 and was replaced by BARR1 who was promoted from Div 3.  GOOD2 was promoted  to Div 1, replacing RA2  relegated from Div 1.
  • At the end of Session 3 NDHQ1 was relegated to Div 3 and was replaced by CASC1 who was promoted from Div 3.  RA2 was promoted  to Div 1, replacing SPOR1  relegated from Div 1.
  • At the end of Session 4 CASC1 was relegated to Div 3 and was replaced by GOOD3 who was promoted from Div 3.  SPOR1 was promoted  to Div 1, replacing RA1  relegated from Div 1.

The following two match results show changes in player order over time and player and what player movement/sparing might be like.

The first result from Nov 14th shows the team GOOD2 and its player order by rating (rating is using Rankenstein the ODSA ranking system)

In the second match result from Jan 9th, the team is the same except for the second position which has Guy Thomas replacing Charles Anido.  One of three possible scenarios is at play here.  Guy is the team’s fifth player and Charles has a bye, Charles is absent and Guy is a spare, or Charles is playing on GOOD1 either as a result of ratings improvement or has been pulled in to spare there and Guy is replacing him. Note the players still play in decreasing order of rating and Evan and Simon have switched places based on ratings changes.

As a side note in the ODSA Open City League players range from Top Open/A players down to high D . Here are a few Div 1 Teams

and a pair of Div 7 teams
